International students aiming to study in Canada should first apply for admission to a designated learning in a college/university and get an acceptance letter. They can then apply for a study permit to continue their studies in Canada.
A Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) enables foreign nationals to enter Canada for purposes such as tourism, attending conference or business meetings. Typically, visitors are authorized to permitted to stay for up to 6 months, however the exact duration determined by a border service officer upon their arrival and may vary.
Canadian citizens and permanent residents can invite their parents or grand parents to visit them in Canada using the super visa. This multiple entry visa allows holders to remain in Canada for up to 5 years per visit, with the visa itself valid for up to 10 years.
To address labor shortage, the Canadian government permits eligible businesses to employ foreign nationals. Typically, this process ensures obtaining a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), which evaluates the effect of hiring a foreign worker on the Canadian labor market. Once a positive LMIA is issued, the foreign national can apply for a work permit based on this assessment. However, certain positions are exempt from the LIMA requirements, allowing employers to hire foreign workers without undergoing this process.
